How do you get to Nantucket?
Located roughly thirty miles off the coast of Massachusetts, Nantucket is accessible by air and sea. Several major cities, New York, Boston, and Washington DC, offer season air travel to the island. Year round ferry service from Hyannis to Nantucket is provided by HyLine Cruises and the Steam Ship Authority. Seasonal ferry service from New York, New Bedford, and New Jersey is also offered via SeaStreak Ferry.

Is there dining at The Cottages?
The Cottages does not have on site dining options or room service, but is located in the heart of Nantucket's vibrant culinary scene, with many excellent restaurants to choose from. Brant Point Grill, TOPPER'S and Nantucket Prime are among our top recommended dining establishments. Additionally, The Cottages feature full kitchens which can be easily provisioned for at the supermarket, located just steps from The Cottages check in office.
What is the best time of year to visit Nantucket?
Summer beach vacations to Nantucket are popular among travelers from around the world, making this the busiest season on the island. The spring and fall months are generally quieter times of year, though most shops, restaurants, and attractions are open for business. Following the annual Nantucket Christmas Stroll (the first weekend in December) the island does slow down dramatically with many businesses closing for the months of January, February and March. The Cottages are open from early April through the end of October.
How do I get around on Nantucket?
Nantucket is a small island with many attractions within walking distance to the center of town. The Cottages provide complimentary bicycles to guests as well as a complimentary beach bus operating seasonally on a first come first served basis. The island of Nantucket offers a seasonal public transit system, as well bikes paths, car rentals, and taxi services. With many options for transportation on the island, traveling with a vehicle is not necessary. Parking is not available at The Cottages.
Are pets allowed at The Cottages?
The Cottages at The Boat Basin offer pet friendly accommodations in our designated WOOF Cottages. We welcome dogs and cats, as long as you receive inn keeper approval prior to arrival. We kindly ask that pets be quiet at all times so as not to disturb our other guests. The Cottages offer delightful amenities to our four legged guests, and many of Nantucket's beaches are pet friendly.
When does the hotel close for the season?
The Cottages at The Boat Basin closes towards the end of October each year. Reservations can be made on our website and we look forward to having you as our guest.
What kind of activities are popular on Nantucket?

Nantucket offers a little something for everyone. Experience the dining and shopping scene of Nantucket town, with unique shops and galleries and world class restaurants. Anglers and boaters will enjoy unforgettable fishing and boating experiences in the waters off Nantucket. There are numerous charter boats available for both sport-fishing and leisure cruises.

Where can I take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard?
Hy-Line Cruises offers seasonal ferry service to Martha's Vineyard, departing from Straight Wharf in Nantucket. The wharf is located just behind The Cottages & Lofts at the Boat Basin on the waterfront, a short walk from the hotel.

How far is Jetties Beach from the hotel?
Jetties Beach is just one mile from The Cottages & Lofts at the Boat Basin, about 25 minutes if you're walking. Guests of the hotel receive complimentary rides to Jetties Beach on our Beach Bus or can hop on our Priority Bicycles for a short, scenic ride to Jetties Beach while sightseeing Nantucket Island.
